Our area, things to do and see

There is a multitude of things to do and see here, where the hills and moors are dotted with pretty villages, and where the Mediterranean sun shines for 300 days a year.

Visits

• The medieval town of Carcassonne and the Canal du Midi (both World Heritage sites) are only 15 mins drive from the village.
• Cathar castles at Peyrepertuse, Queribus, Arques, Villerouge-Termenès, Termes, and Cistercian abbeys at Fontfroide and Lagrasse
• Medieval villages (especially Lagrasse and Minerve)
• The Corbières hills and the Mediterranean

Activities

• Walking (with a guide or unaccompanied): Alaric mountain (600m) with views stretching from the Massif Central down the Mediterranean coast to the Pyrenees; the Joseph Delteil path, named in honour of a local poet; the sculpture path at Mayronnes, Cathar castles. Several GRs (long distance walks) pass through the area
• Mountain biking (bike hire available)
• Horse riding (with circuits starting nearby)
• Art: outdoor painting courses
• Cooking courses
• Local produce: organic beef, sheep’s and goat’s cheese
• Wine tasting
• Doing strictly nothing and enjoying life!
• Swimming: in natural rivers and lakes (10 mins) or in the Mediterranean (50 mins)
• Healthy living: introduction to Sophrology, massages...
• And for your kids, we can arrange for qualified carers who will organise made-to-measure activities.
